The HOST (Help Our Students Travel) Program

HOSTInterviewing for your residency is a stressful time in any physician’s life.   You may be required to travel to cities where you’ve never been.  The whole issue of directions, accommodations and cost adds a layer of uncertainty to a situation that is already packed with anxiety.  If you’re willing to host a year IV medical student in need of a place to stay in your community, we’d love to hear from you.  In addition to sharing your home, sharing your experience is a welcome gift to a physician-in-the-making.

Another HOST opportunity involves students who are taking away-electives or who are involved in summer internships.  These situations can involve a greater commitment of your time and your home (for up to 30 days), but can be a life saver to a student who may otherwise not be able to handle the economics involved.

Finally, many candidates who have applied to the School of Medicine must travel to Detroit for their entrance interviews.  If you live in the Detroit metropolitan area and are willing to HOST a prospective medical student, we would love to hear from you.
