The WSU Medical Alumni Association presents countless opportunities for School of Medicine graduates to engage with current students, fellow alumni, prospective students, the community and volunteers. Read below to learn more about the invaluable ways to connect with the Warrior Medicine family.

Medical Specialty Sessions
The WSU Medical Alumni Association hosts a series of medical specialty lunches and virtual webinars; practicing physicians and residents will speak on their experience, offer suggestions and answer questions.
Dinner with a Doc
The WSU School of Medicine Dinner with a Doc program matches medical students with practicing physicians in the Detroit metro area. Physicians host dinner for a current student in their home or at a restaurant.
Shadowing
Allow students to shadow you at your practice! It's a great way for alumni to build relationships with future colleagues in the WSUSOM family while educating them at the same time.
HOST (Help Our Students Travel) Program
HOST is a program sponsored by the WSU Medical Alumni Association designed to reduce students' residency travel expenses and connect alumni and students throughout the country. Alumni volunteers provide students with a free place to stay as well as offer invaluable advice about residency training, the prospective medical center and community in which they are interviewing.
Clinical Skills 2
Clinical Skills 2 is a course the second-year medical students take May-December. Each month is dedicated to a specific specialty and focused physical exam. Alumni guest faculty teach the focused physical exam sessions and procedure sessions. We need a variety of specialists to offer different perspectives and content expertise, answer Qs, give demos and clinical correlations and generally have fun and support students in a low stakes, formative environment. Morning sessions run from 8:30 a.m.- noon and afternoon sessions from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Email daniel.deweert@wayne.edu with any questions or to sign up.
Become a P4 Facilitator
Facilitators are needed for the Population, Patient, Physician & Professionalism (P4) course. P4 is a longitudinal course for 1st-and-2nd-year medical students designed to guide students to provide patient-centered and culturally responsive care, become effective team members, learn evidence-based theories that reduce healthcare disparities, and recognize their own professional development. Sessions take place Thursday mornings from 8 - 10 a.m. and 10 a.m. - noon. Facilitators will receive official voluntary faculty appointments and up to 40 CME hours.

Lead M2 human disease foundations "Synergize" and "Case-Based Learning" sessions
Physicians are needed to help lead the M2 Human Disease Foundations Synergize and Case-Based Learning sessions. Synergize sessions take place on Tuesday afternoons from 1 - 2:30 p.m. and are designed around USMLE-style questions with targeted activities for students to complete in small groups. Case-Based Learning sessions take place Fridays from 9 - 11 a.m. and 2 - 4 p.m. and are designed around a patient case with targeted activities for students to complete in small groups.

Teach a residency preparation course
Help prepare graduating students for residency after Match. Throughout April, help facilitate an interactive small group workshop tailored to your expertise.

Volunteer as a preceptor at a student-run clinic
Wayne State Student Organizations run a few clinics throughout Detroit. Volunteer to be a preceptor an dsupervise work in the clinic. There are a variety of days and times that each clinic operates including evenings and weekends.
