Notes of Appreciation

Every contribution alumni make, whether providing a meal or housing for a medical student, offering career advice or a shadowing opportunity, hosting an event, or donating to the Medical Alumni Annual Fund, has a lasting impact on the School of Medicine community.  Below are expressions of appreciation from medical students for support they have received from alumni.

Amanda Najor

I want to thank Diana Kakos, an M4 who was accepted into an internal medicine (IM) residency program, for taking the time to speak with me and address my questions and concerns. She offered some valuable tips about studying for Step 1 since I am currently in step limbo due to COVID-19. She also gave me great advice regarding applications for residency, characteristics for a competitive IM candidate, and the appropriate electives/away rotations during 3rd and 4th years for certain specialties. Diana also explained the type of lifestyle that IM permits, as well as some minor differences with family medicine. I will use that information to help me decide which path I want to pursue. I feel much more confident about taking Step 1 in June and starting the next step of clerkships in this journey.
