Class of 1978 Reunion Donation

As you celebrate your 45th reunion, your class will make a gift to the Medical Alumni Annual Fund as a way to honor the legacy of the Class of 1978. This legacy has the power to transform the lives of WSU medical students both present and prospective by providing critical funds for programs and initiatives that directly impact academic success and professional growth. By making a reunion gift, you contribute to this legacy of support while investing in bright physicians-in-training who will be the next leaders in medicine.

You are encouraged to make this gift to the Medical Alumni Annual Fund before reunion weekend. Each classmate's gift makes a difference, and together, you can make sure the Class of 1978 has the largest collective gift in this long-awaited triple reunion year. Through your loyalty and support, not only can you surpassy our class giving goal, but can also make an immediate impact on current SOM students our future colleagues and alumni!

Use the WSU secure giving site to make your donation today.

Susan Fraser - Hello from St Petersburg, Florida where I have lived since 1989. I did an internal medicine residency at Wayne State based out of Detroit General Hospital, then practiced in a Detroit HMO for 5 years. Then again at Wayne State a Rheumatology fellowship. My husband started working as a Professor at University of South Florida, prompting our move here. We raised a family here then I retired in 2015. So sorry I can not come to our reunion but I will be working on my bucket list and on a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia.

David Peisner - My favorite memories of WSU are the medical school lampoons and the comradery of the MD labs. After I graduated, I did an OB/GYN residency at WSU (Hutzel). In those 4 years, I literally saw every type of case and complication in the OB/GYN textbooks. As the years passed, I met many colleagues who had not seen various types of cases, and for that experience, I am grateful to WSU.

After residency, I did a fellowship at Case Western. The chief of OB there was Mort Rosen who eventually went to Columbia University to be chief of OB/GYN at that institution. The vice-chief at Case was Bob Sokol, who later became chief of OB/GYN at Wayne State and eventually was appointed to be the dean. After a few years in Cleveland, I joined Mort Rosen in New York and was a faculty member at Columbia University. Following that, I returned to Michigan and was one of the Maternal-Fetal doctors in Kalamazoo at Bronson Hospital. I spent 3 years in the early 2000s at Morristown Hospital in New Jersey but then moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

I have lived in Harrisburg since 2008 but have worked in various locations without moving. For 6 years, I worked in Maryland at Maryland Perinatal Associates, which was a long commute but was a great practice. I worked as a locum tenens for a couple of years and finished my career as the Maternal-Fetal medicine doctor in DuBois, Pennsylvania, where I had an apartment but returned to Harrisburg on the weekends.

We have 4 children: Jeremy will be 26 in 2023 and received his degree in film production from Penn State. He is currently evaluating various options for a career. My daughter, Jennifer will be 24 in 2023 and is finishing her degree in general studies at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania. My daughter, Elana will be 22 in 2023 and is a senior in chemical engineering at the University of Massachusetts in Amhearst, MA. She already has job offers after she graduates in May. My youngest daughter is Emily, who will be 17 in 2023. She is currently a sophomore in high school. All of my children have been on the local swim teams. Emily is on the track teams at the high school and is also interested in the flying trapeze (she has flown and been caught since she was 8-9 years old).

We currently live about 15 minutes outside of Harrisburg on a lot with mountain views. The changing colors of fall foliage are always wonderful. I am currently spending retirement catching up with various hobbies. The picture is from Emily's Bat Mitzvah in 2020.
