Message from the Planning Committee

Plans have shifted for our 30th reunion, but that does not diminish our excitement in celebrating this important milestone. The additional time leading up to the event gives us a special opportunity to look back, reconnect, and share the memories we made together at our medical school alma mater. Please use this website as a resource to engage with former classmates, adding photographs and messages leading up to the event. We look forward to seeing you in person, May 13-15, 2022.

Richard Messmann is the Novartis Senior Clinical Development Medical Director, and the company's lead physician for the Phase III VISION study of Lutetium 177-PSMA-617, one of a new class of drugs called radioligand therapeutics. The study met both of its primary endpoints, significantly improving overall survival (OS) and radiographic progression-free survival (rPFS) in men with advanced metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer. Results of the study will be presented at the plenary session of the American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting June 4-8, 2021 as part of the "Top Research" program (Abstract LBA4). Study results have also been submitted to the New England Journal of Medicine for publication.

Angela Patrice Shannon - I love Wayne State University School of Medicine! I was a transfer student in 1989. Thanks to urging from I love Wayne State University School of Medicine! I was a transfer student in 1989. Thanks to urging from Dr. Eric Ayers (Wayne State -Pediatrics/Internal Medicine), I transferred from a medical school where discrimination seemed to be the "Soup du Jour". Wayne State School of Medicine proved to be a refreshing change. I was welcomed by attendings, residents, and fellow medical students, alike and was soon blessed with a cadre of friends that could have functioned as a "Mini United Nations". For the first time in 5 years, I COULD BREATHE! Dr. Claudia Weaver-Richardson was a WSUSM OBY/GYN resident who bumped into me during my interview process and GENEROUSLY opened her home to me. Mischun Childs-Love introduced herself in my first days wearing a huge smile and a sharp hair cut. Mike Thibodeau took me to my FIRST hockey game. Deb Stockwell-Hemmila, with humble kindness, consistently offered the wisest counsel. Finally, Jamie Engels held my hand and reassured me that my SURGERY rotation was not an ominous monster hiding underneath the bed. Thanks to Jamie's patience and outstanding ability to explain techniques, I would earn clinical Honors in surgery. Whooo! Hoo! Thanks to the Engels family, I would also be blessed with an opportunity to spend some days after graduation enjoying the company of a MELTING POT of awesome friends; all topped off with the experience of seeing the Northern Lights. BEAUTIFU L! I could go on, but I won't. I will simply end as I began. . . I LOVE Wayne State University School of Medicine!. Class of 1991 Reunion Donation

As you celebrate your 30th reunion, your class will make a gift to the Medical Alumni Annual Fund as a way to honor the legacy of the Class of 1991. This legacy has the power to transform the lives of WSU medical students both present and prospective by providing critical funds for programs and initiatives that directly impact academic success and professional growth. By making a reunion gift, you contribute to this legacy of support while investing in bright physicians-in-training who will be the next leaders in medicine.

You are encouraged to make this gift to the Medical Alumni Annual Fund before reunion weekend. Each classmate's gift makes a difference, and together, you can make sure the Class of 1991 has the largest collective gift in this long-awaited triple reunion year. Through your loyalty and support, not only can you surpassy our class giving goal, but can also make an immediate impact on current SOM students our future colleagues and alumni!

Use the WSU secure giving site to make your donation today.
