Courtney Moore

Courtney Moore MD, FACP ’14 is a Warrior for life.

As an undergraduate at Wayne State University she received WSU’s Campus Life Legacy Award for her outstanding academic accomplishments and extensive community involvement. Upon graduation, she enrolled in our WSUSOM medical school, during which time she was recognized as a Michigan’s Governor Service Award Volunteer of the Year finalist and selected as a Paul Ambrose Fellow (with the Health Professions Association for Prevention and Teaching Research Office in Washington, D.C.) for her dedication to public health improvement and medical education, particularly for establishing the Health Is Where The Heart Is organization which endeavored to improve the heart health of Detroiters and surrounding community members. Her catalyst for creating the organization and program was a cardiac event that nearly claimed the life of her father. Upon graduation from the Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2014 she received several honors including the Dean’s Distinguished Leadership and Distinguished Service awards as well as the Herbert Mendelson Enthusiasm for Medicine Endowed Scholarship. As a medical resident in our Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center residency she was honored as the intern and resident of the year in consecutive years, selected as a junior chief resident and subsequently served as chief medical resident.  Dr. Moore was also inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society as a resident. Concurrently during residency Dr. Moore continued to serve as Director of Peer Education at the SOM which delivered an innovative and effective curriculum to assist medical students with USMLE preparation.

Currently, Dr. Moore is an Assistant Professor (Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and College of Osteopathic Medicine) and serves a diverse role as faculty within the academic internal medicine residency program, Director of Student Programs, Assistant Director of Undergraduate Medical Education, Program Director of Medical Education Scholars program and Chair of Metrics at Ascension Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan. She remains active within our WSUSOM community as a member of the WSUSOM Alumni Association Board of Governors member, provides administrative and clinical support of rotations for WSUSOM students at Ascension Providence Hospital and mentors students interested in internal medicine and medical education.  As a fellow at Johns Hopkins University School of Education she is completing her master degree in Health Professions Education with a specialization in educational leadership.
