David Pieper has a Ph.D. in Physiology from the WSU SOM and has been involved in medical research and medical education at the undergraduate, UGME, GME and CME levels.  He was an Assistant Dean at the Wayne State School of Medicine and was also Executive Director of the Southeast Michigan Center for Medical Education.  Dr. Pieper was on the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education Board of Directors for many years.  He was President of the Association for Hospital Medical Education and is currently on the Wayne State University School of Medicine Alumni Board, the WSU IRB, the WSU Medical School Admissions team, and the WSU Department of Internal Medicine Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. He is also on the Metropolitan Detroit Research and Education Foundation Board and is President of the Board of the Science and Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit. David and his wife, Dr. Barbara Pieper have endowed a Graduate Student Award in the WSU SOM Department of Physiology and have also endowed a WSU School of Nursing Scholarship Award.
