Ernest Chiodo

Dr. Ernest Chiodo is a physician, attorney, industrial hygienist, industrial toxicologist and biomedical engineer with board certification in internal medicine, occupational and environmental medicine, public health and general preventive medicine, and industrial hygiene. He received his medical, legal, biomedical engineering, and industrial toxicology degrees from Wayne State University. He received his Master of Public Health from Harvard University and a Master of Science in Threat Response Management (biological, chemical, and radiological defense) from the University of Chicago. He received a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in economics from the University of Chicago. He also received a Masters of Science in Evidenced Based Healthcare (Medicine) from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom (England). The University of Oxford is the leading center in the world for evidence based medicine. Wayne State University in Detroit is a leading center for the study of vehicular (car and truck) impact biomechanics as well as industrial hygiene and toxicology. Biomedical engineering is the area of engineering that includes biomechanical engineering. He is the former Medical Director and manager of medical and public health services for the city of Detroit where he was the chief physician in charge of all medical and public health services provided by the city of Detroit to over one million people living and working in the city of Detroit. This was a position of substantial public responsibility where at the time he had the direct telephone number to the United States white house in case he needed to contact the President because of some public health emergency or disaster in the city of Detroit. He served for many years as an assistant clinical professor of internal medicine, family medicine, and public health at Wayne State University as well as an adjunct assistant professor of industrial hygiene and industrial toxicology at Wayne State University. He is a Past-President of the Michigan Industrial Hygiene Society and was the Chairman of the Environmental Litigation and Administrative Practice Committee of the State Bar of Michigan. In addition to his medical board certifications, Dr. Chiodo is also a Certified Medical Review Officer which is the designation required by the U.S. Department of Transportation for a physician to determine whether or not a drug or alcohol test is a true or false positive. He is licensed to practice medicine in Michigan, Illinois, Florida and New York. He is licensed to practice law in the states of Michigan and Illinois. He has served as an adjunct professor of law at John Marshall Law School in Chicago and Loyola University of Chicago Law School where he taught toxic tort law. He has offices in Chicago and suburban Detroit. He also has a forensic medical office located in West Palm Beach, Florida.
