Dr. Jay Berman is Professor and Vice Chair, Director Division of Gynecology, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology with Honors, form Queens College of The City University of New York, and his MD degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine.  He did his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Sinai Hospital of Detroit. Dr Berman was in private practice in the Detroit area from 1981 until 2001. 

Dr Berman was a principal investigator for three important gynecologic devices for treating abnormal uterine bleeding and fibroids He is also principal investigator for two drug trials for treating fibroids. Dr Berman has taught and performed surgery on multiple international trips and has presented at national and international meetings. His passion includes hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgery, alternatives to hysterectomy  and treatment of uterine leiomyomas. 

He  serves as Chief of Gynecology Services at DMC Harper/Hutzel Hospitals since 2014.
