Lance Wells

Lance A Wells M.D. is the Director of Emergency Medicine at Hillsdale Hospital in Michigan. He is also the Medical Director for the Hillsdale County Medical Command Authority. Which is the coordinating agency for all of the counties Emergency medical services.

He is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine. He completed a combined residency  at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh  Pennsylvania in 2015.

He is a  Wayne State University School of Medicine graduate class of 2010. Where he was very active including being elected as the inaugural president for the class of 2010. Two term parliamentarian for the Black Medical Association. As well as earning the Lyle Heavner endowed Memorial scholarship and the Marjorie Edwards award for scholarship and community service.

Born and raised in the city of Detroit. Dr. Wells is a product of the Detroit Public School system. He did not take the traditional path to becoming a doctor.  He received his Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Chemistry from Michigan State University.  He then worked as a Chemist  for a major oil company and held the position for several years before making the decision to return to school, all while supporting a family.  He is married with four sons. He is A very involved father earning him the affectionate nick name “PapaDoc” from his children.

He has a passion for education. He has been educating the public on healthy lifestyle and health literacy, and he has been educating physicians, residents and medical students about the principles of excellent patient care, and disaster Preparedness.

I have worked in every possible area of medicine from Street medicine, to EMS, surgery, critical care, outpatient  clinics,  Emergency  Department,  Inpatient floors, home visits,  telehealth,  Nursing homes and this quote has come to be the foundation of my philosophy of how to practice medicine:
