Patricia Wilkerson-Uddyback, M.D. '91, Res. '96, MBA, FACEP
Dr. Patricia Wilkerson-Uddyback is a board certified Emergency medicine physician practicing at the Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, MI. for over 25 years. She has held various leadership roles at the DMC; including Chief of Emergency Medicine at Harper Hutzel Hospital and Interim CEO-President of Harper Hutzel Women's Hospital and Chief Medical Officer for both Harper Hutzel hospital & Detroit Receiving Hospitals and Corporate Vice President of Academic and Community Affairs. A key reason for much of her success in any initiative she leads is her commitment to always put the needs of the patient first.
Dr. Wilkerson-Uddyback has always known she wanted to be a physician. She graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. in Lyman Briggs physiology. She completed additional undergraduate coursework at Brown University, Harvard University and the University of London in England. She received her doctorate of medicine from Wayne Stare University School of Medicine and completed a combined residency in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at Detroit Receiving Hospital and Children's Hospital of Michigan with the Detroit Medical Center. She has also completed an Executive MBA from the University of Tennessee - Knoxville.
She has served on numerous boards including the Detroit Community Health Connection Board of Directors and the March of Dimes of SE Michigan Board of Directors. She has received numerous awards and Becker's Hospital Review acknowledged Dr. Uddyback as one of the top 100 Hospital & Health System CMO's to know in 2017 and 2018 and one of the top African Americans in healthcare in 2019. She has been recognized as a Women of Excellence by the Detroit Chronicle and a Top Women in Health Care by Crain’s Detroit Magazine. She has a strong passion for mentoring and she started the Medical Mentors Pipeline Program at the Detroit Medical Center and affiliated with Wayne State University School of Medicine, which provides a shadowing experience for high school and college students interested in becoming a physician. She is also the President – CEO of Medical Education Consulting, LLC which works to assist ACGME accredited programs with maintaining continued accreditation and creating pipeline programing.
Dr. Wilkerson-Uddyback is a native Detroiter and self-proclaimed booster. In her spare time, she loves to garden, and spend time with her husband of over 30 years, Attorney Odie Uddyback, III and their three wonderful daughters, Lauren, Kailyn and Lena.
