For 150 years, the Wayne State University School of Medicine has served as a powerhouse of medical education, clinical care, leading-edge research and training in the heart of Detroit.

Our legacy and promising future are a testament to the dedicated group of alumni, donors, faculty, students, staff and friends of the school who continue to support our mission and vision.

Since 1868, the school has served as a pipeline for educating compassionate and skilled clinicians, scientists and researchers who have an impact across the state of Michigan, the nation and around the planet. Countless stakeholders have dedicated their time and talents to volunteering, mentoring and enriching the fabric of the school and the values for which it stands. The success we celebrate this year on our sesquicentennial anniversary would not be possible without the collective body of talented individuals who make up the School of Medicine community.

I am pleased to present our second edition of Giving Matters, which serves as a behind-the-scenes look at our exceptional donors and the impact their philanthropy has on the School of Medicine. This edition is particularly notable as we celebrate the successful conclusion of the Pivotal Moments Campaign on Sept. 30. It is my great pleasure to share that through the monumental efforts of alumni, donors and friends, the school has contributed nearly 25 percent of the total dollars raised by Wayne State University during the campaign.

I am exceptionally proud of the School of Medicine's role in this initiative, and I know the philanthropic support and dedication displayed during this time will have a substantial impact on the school and the university for many years to come.

On behalf of all of us at the School of Medicine, the mission we serve and the communities that benefit, thank you for your continued dedication to our tradition of excellence.
