Justin Klamerus, M.D., M.M.M., is the Executive Vice President, Chief Medical Office at McLaren Health Care, formerly the president of Karmanos Cancer Hospital & Network, part of the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. Dr. Klamerus oversees operations of Karmanos' 15 network cancer centers and radiation centers in Michigan and Ohio. Dr. Klamerus also serves as associate professor of Oncology at Wayne State University School of Medicine.

After the acquisition of Karmanos by McLaren Health Care in 2014, Karmanos became the largest cancer research and provider network in Michigan. Dr. Klamerus has served in various roles since joining Karmanos staff in early 2014; including, executive vice president/chief quality officer and associate center director for Community Oncology. In 2020, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer appointed Dr. Klamerus to the Public Health Advisory Commission.

Prior to joining Karmanos, Dr. Klamerus served as the president and medical director of the McLaren Cancer Institute from 2012-2014; and cancer program director at McLaren Northern Michigan from 2009-2012, where he also practiced medical oncology. He was program director of Cancer Services at McLaren Northern Michigan from 2011-2012, and assistant medical director for Quality and Program Development from 2009-2011.

Dr. Klamerus received his baccalaureate degree from Olivet College and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He completed his residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He also served as a clinical instructor of Internal Medicine and as a lecturer in the College of Medicine and Public Health at Ohio State.

Following his time at Ohio State, Klamerus attended Johns Hopkins University, where he completed a fellowship in Medical Oncology. Dr. Klamerus earned a Master of Medical Management degree at the Heinz College of Carnegie Mellon University. In 2017, Klamerus completed the Health Management Academy's General Electric Fellowship Program for Physician Executives. Dr. Klamerus is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, having served on several committees including the Clinical Practice and the Government Relations committees. He is also a member of the Steering Committee of the Michigan Oncology Quality Consortium.

Dr. Klamerus has served as the program director of the Michigan Oncology Clinical Treatment Pathways Program, a clinical quality initiative of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. He is board certified in medical oncology and internal medicine. His published works include the book, "The Johns Hopkins Patient Guide to Lung Cancer," and several papers on access to cancer clinical trials, health care disparities and cancer care delivery.
