LaTonya Riddle-Jones, M.D. '08, Res. '12
Dr. Riddle is a proud Chemical Engineering graduate of Michigan State University, Wayne State University School of Medicine (WSUSOM) and DMC/ Wayne State University School of Medicine Internal Medicine- Pediatrics Residency program. She practiced at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital & Neighborhood Family Health Center for 2 years upon graduation, and served as Clinical Instructor for University of Michigan Med/Peds program while there. Here at Wayne State University, she is an Assistant Professor, Vice-Chair of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for the Department of Internal Medicine, Director of Population, Patient, Physician & Professionalism courses at WSUSOM, Associate Medical Director for the Tri-County Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program, faculty mentor for several student organizations and former Medical Director for the Corktown Health Center (a medical home for Detroit's LGBTQ community) for 5 years.
Her research and academic interests include health care policy, primary care and preventative health, and HIV prevention & treatment in historically marginalized people, while her clinical interests include primary and preventative care and addressing the medical needs of the LGBTQ community. Dr. Riddle serves as the secretary to the Wayne County Medical Society and on various committees for the Michigan State Medical Society. She loves academic and organized medicine, and her goal is to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities by contributing to education of future physicians and actively addressing and correcting systemic injustices.
