The Wayne State University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Wayne State University School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 3.75AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)â„¢. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
The goal of this conference is to provide attendees with the most updated information, which will help them in treating their patients using the most advanced and up-to-date procedures.
Objective for lecture #1: Overview of the tradition of excellence that the Wayne State University School of Medicine has carried through its 150 years and learn what it means to serve the community, practice medicine with compassion and provide leadership in the field of health care.
Objective for lecture #2: Overview of Global and Urban Health and Equity curriculum - Global Health Education in the 21st century, highlights of accomplishments, and future plans and call to action.
Objective for lecture #3: Illustrate the magnitude of the opiate abuse crisis in the United States; review the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines on how to address this crisis; discuss medical community strategies to contain the opiate abuse epidemic; discuss medical community strategies to contain the opiate abuse epidemic.
Objective for lecture #4: To appreciate the moral and legal duty to rescue individuals in need of health care. And to consider the duty to reduce the burdens of rescue; to consider (answer) the question: Is health care a right or a privilege in civil society?; to appreciate the ethics of caring.
Objective for lecture #5: Increase knowledge of LGBTQ terminology; increase practical use of sensitive language to LGBTQ people; increase knowledge of the transgender community and specific health disparities; have some action plan/steps for being culturally sensitive to LGBTQ communities; increased resources for LGBTQ sensitivity or best-practice approach.
Objective for lecture #6: Illustrate how future technological innovation is transforming health care; understand how technology drives innovation.
