The Wayne State University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.  The Wayne State University School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 3.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)â„¢. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The goal of this conference is to provide attendees with the most updated information, which will help them in treating their patients using the most advanced and up-to-date procedures. As a result of participating in this activity, the learner should be able to identify and define the key terms used in CME.

Objective for lecture #1: Discuss epidemiology and diagnosis of NASH; recognize the limitations of current treatment strategies and understand emerging therapeutic approaches; develop evidence-based treatment strategies using the latest clinical data.

Objective for lecture #2: Understand the more recent vaccine developments and tactics to defend vaccines against the vaccine-hesitant.

Objective for lecture #3: Describe the state of the opioid epidemic and define our role as physicians; define substance use disorder, tolerance and dependence; understand general principles about safely prescribing opioids for chronic pain; identify tools for opioid risk assessment; understand U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention rrecommendations and current laws regarding prescribing opioids; list monitoring guidelines for chronic opioid use.

Objective for lecture #4: Identify the crisis in osteoporotic care; outline potential solution to eliminate gaps in providing care for osteoporotic patients.

Objective for lecture #5: Recognize victims of trafficking, their traffickers and the health consequences of trafficking; manage immediate health care needs for victims of trafficking, intervene on their behalf and connect victims with existing resources; identify risk factors for the trafficking of minors and find resources for victims.

Objective for lecture #6: Review common approaches to medical decision-making, with discussion of benefits and burden of each; explain the pitfalls of current decision-making approaches in multi-cultural populations; educate on a new approach of value-based decision making.
