Dr. Peter Dews is a native of Detroit, and a graduate of the University of Michigan. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Wayne State University (WSU) School of Medicine, and completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at WSU / Detroit Medical Center. During his early career years as a Wayne State University faculty member, Dr. Dews earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis at the University of Michigan Rackham School of Graduate Studies, and completed a certificate program in Health Services Research through the American Association of Medical Colleges.

Dr. Dews has broad and extensive expertise spanning multiple settings in clinical medicine, scientific research, program evaluation methods, healthcare administration / quality management, education and physician development. He is also an accomplished author / co-author. Through his experiences Dr. Dews has evolved a skill set that enables translation / migration between strategy, operations, population management, medical practice and corporate spheres.

Dr. Dews is a member of many communities and (through them) is actively involved in mentoring at the middle school through mid-career levels (with focused outreach to underrepresented in medicine / aspiring medical students). He also enjoys reading (social critiques / philosophy and fiction), basketball, golf, biking, planning to restore old cars and spending time with his family. He currently serves in number of Academic / Administrative / Clinical roles within Ascension Michigan."
