Dr. Janeana White is the Deputy Public Health Authority and Chief Physician for the Houston Health Department in Houston, Texas. In her role, Dr. White oversees public health initiatives, ensures the implementation of health policies, and provides medical leadership to improve community health outcomes and ensure the community's health and social well-being.
She attended Wayne State University, earning her B.A. in Biology, and obtained her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where she also served as a Pediatric Chief Resident and completed a primary care fellowship focused on public health practices in pediatrics.
She is a member of the Harris County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, American College of Healthcare Executives, American Public Health Association, Mary Susan Moore Medical Society, National Association of City and County Health Officials, and Texas Public Health Association.
Dr. White is a Milbank Memorial Fund's Emerging Leaders Program graduate and the Naval Postgraduate School's Center for Homeland Defense and Security Executive Leaders Program. She volunteers her time on several boards. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends in her free time, attending music events, and having a good read.
Dr. White is dedicated to addressing health disparities and promoting wellness across Houston's diverse population. Her expertise and commitment to public health have made her a vital asset in the city's efforts to enhance the well-being of its residents.
