Stacie Smith, M.D. '08, M.P.H
Dr. Stacie A Smith MD, MPH is in her third year of residency in the Meharry Medical College Preventive Medicine Residency in Nashville, TN and is currently serving as the Chief Resident of the Preventive Medicine Residency. Dr. Smith has held a life-long interest and commitment to combining clinical medicine and public health initiatives to improve health outcomes at the population level.
Over the span of her career in public health Dr. Smith has collaborated with initiatives at the Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion (Detroit Health Department), consulted on health system-wide Diabetes improvement strategies at a major health system and had affiliations at several major health systems in Detroit, MI. Most recently Dr. Smith was lead in the development and implementation of the 'Detroit-Based Poverty Simulation' at Wayne State University School of Medicine where she also served as a small group instructor with the Problem Based learning course. Professionally she has been engaged in Clinically-Based research with a Hypertension focus just prior to returning to residency. She has served, as Member-At-Large, on the Wayne State University Alumni Association Board of Governors since 2018 where she was lead of the Social Justice Committee, a collaboration with current medical students.
Dr. Smith has been elected as the incoming Secretary of the Tennessee Medical Association Residents & Fellows Governing Council and is currently being considered to become a ACPM Vaccine Confident Ambassador.
A native Detroiter, Dr. Smith is a graduate of the Detroit Public School System. Anyone who knows Dr. Smith knows she is a committed "Professional Aunt" to Nicholas and Nadia.
