Gregory Zemenick, M.D. '71, is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his internship at William Beaumont Hospital in 1972 and finished his residency in orthopedic surgery at William Beaumont Hospital in 1976. In addition to practicing orthopedics, Dr. Zemenick also specializes in pain management.

Dr. Zemenick has succeeded in developing his private practice in addition to teaching residency programs in orthopedic surgery and family practice. He has been a member of a number of medical organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the American Medical Association and the Michigan Orthopedic Society.

In accordance with his commitment to philanthropy, Dr. Zemenick has traveled to Cambodia, Ecuador and Nicaragua for two to five weeks each year on medical missions, performing surgery in underserved areas of the country. He also has supported medical student efforts by serving on an Advisory Committee for International Travel.

Dr. Zemenick has been very supportive of the strategic initiatives of the School of Medicine, and is a former co-chair of the Executive Fund-Raising Committee. He has served as past-president and treasurer of the Alumni Board of Governors for the School of Medicine. Dr. Zemenick is also with the CHIPS Program, under the leadership of Jennifer Mendez, Ph.D. 

Dr. Zemenick received the 2008 WSU School of Medicine Distinguished Alumni Award and was named a Distinguished Volunteer by the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 2011.  He's also been associated with Wayne State University continuously since 1964.
