Ronald Adler

Ronald Adler, M.D. ’84, Ph.D., is a board-certified radiologist specializing in musculoskeletal radiology. He has been chief of the Division of Ultrasound and Body CT, Radiology and Imaging for the Hospital for Special Surgery, New York, and is a professor of Radiology, at NYU’s Langone Medical Center.

He is an expert in cartilage and musculoskeletal diseases, tendon injuries, osteoarthritis and soft tissue cancer who has appeared in New York Magazine’s “Top Doctors” feature from 2004 to 2014 and in Castle Connolly Medical Ltd.’s “America’s Top Doctors” from 2005 to 2014. In 2012, he received the Patients’ Choice Award and the Compassionate Doctor Recognition.

Dr. Adler is a co-developer of Power Doppler Imaging, a form of ultrasonography that detects blood flow. His work has been funded by the Arthritis Institute of the National Institutes of Health (for his cartilage related work) and a grant from Major League Baseball.

He has published more than 145 articles, as well as book chapters and the book "Atlas of Foot and Ankle Sonography."
