Edward Applebaum
Edward Applebaum, M.D. ’64, is a professor emeritus and past chair of the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery for Northwestern University Feinberg Medical School in Chicago, and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
He completed an internship at University of Michigan Hospital in 1965, was a resident in General Surgery at Bon Secours Hospital in 1966 and a resident in Otolaryngology at Harvard Medical School in 1969.
Dr. Applebaum specialized in otology for more than 25 years and holds patents for two middle-ear implants. He was president of several academic organizations for otolaryngology surgeons, served on the editorial boards of three otolaryngology journals and was editor for five years of the American Journal of Otolaryngology.
Dr. Applebaum was awarded Wayne State University Medical School’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1989 and the Distinguished Faculty Award from the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical School in 1996. He also received the Frank Netter International Award in 1999.
He has published more than 130 scientific articles and book chapters, and co-wrote one book.
