John Bizon
John Bizon, M.D. ’77, F.A.C.S., is a otolaryngologist in Battle Creek, Mich., and represents the 62nd District in the Michigan House of Representatives. The district is located in Calhoun County and encompasses 10 cities and townships. He is a past-president of the Michigan State Medical Society.
After receiving his medical degree with the financial help of the Air Force Health Professions Scholarship Program, Dr. Bizon served his first post-graduate year in general surgery at the Detroit Medical Center. He also has a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University.
He then repaid the Air Force for his education by completing Flight Surgeon’s School and serving four years at the (now decommissioned) K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base before completing a residency in otolaryngology.
Dr. Bizon continued his military career at Clark Air Force base in the Philippines, caring for patients with otologic disease and achieving the rank of lieutenant-colonel.
He returned to Michigan when his father died to be closer to family. He joined the practice of Joe Schwarz, M.D., who had been elected a state senator, and became a clinical private practice physician.
Dr. Bizon was elected president of the Calhoun County Medical Society, served as chair of the Legislative Committee at the county medical society and as chief of medical staff of the Battle Creek Health System (now Bronson Battle Creek). He also has served as chair and on the executive board of the Michigan Doctors Political Action Committee.
Dr. Bizon was elected chair of the Legislative Policy Committee of the Michigan State Medical Society in 2009, and president of its board of directors in 2012.
He was elected state representative for the 62nd District in November 2014.
