James Grant
James Grant, M.D. ’87, is chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.
After receiving his medical degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine, he completed a residency in Anesthesiology at Northwestern University Medical Center in Chicago in 1991.
Dr. Grant has been an attending staff member at William Beaumont Hospitals in Royal Oak and Troy, Mich., since 1991 and has served as chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Royal Oak hospital since 2006. He was vice chair for 10 years before that. Dr. Grant has served as professor and chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine since 2010. His clinical practice includes South Oakland Anesthesia Associates (1991 to 2012) and American Anesthesiology of Michigan since 2012.
He is past-president of the Michigan Society of Anesthesiologists and the Michigan State Medical Society. He was on the Michigan Board of Medicine from 2000 to 2007, serving as vice chair for one year and chair for three years. He has also served on the Michigan Controlled Substances Advisory Commission.
