Roger Kempers

Roger Kempers, M.D. ’54, is an obstetrician-gynecologist and internationally recognized authority in reproductive medicine.

Dr. Kempers completed an internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Mary’s Health Care and a residency at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education.

In 1973, he was appointed American Society of Reproductive Medicine’s Assistant General Program chair, and served on at least one committee every year. He has represented the ASRM in the International Federation of Fertility Societies, and has served as president and medical director.

In 2009, Dr. Kempers received the ASRM’s Distinguished Service Award for his work in reproductive endocrinology.

Dr. Kempers is a former director of the Mayo Clinic’s and Mayo Medical School’s Reproductive Endocrinology Division. He has been president of the International Federation of Fertility Societies, and a professor and president of the IFFS Scientific and Executive committees. From 1996 to 2000, he was medical director of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine in Birmingham, Ala.

Dr. Kempers was editor-in-chief of the Fertility and Sterility Journal for 22 years and has served as president of four medical societies.

He received the WSU School of Medicine Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 1992. He and his wife, Marcia, are Mayo Alumni Laureates.
