Kenneth Kohn
Kenneth Kohn, Ph.D., ’79, is an attorney specializing in intellectual property and patent applications worldwide in the science- and medicine-related fields.
Dr. Kohn earned his doctorate in pharmacology and immunology from the Wayne State University School of Medicine, and his law degree from Wayne State University Law School in 1982.
He is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He was an intellectual property law clerk for McGlynn & Milton in Troy, Mich., and an intellectual property associate and partner at Reising, Ethington, Barnard, Perry & Milton, also in Troy, before founding Kohn & Associates in 1995. The firm is based in Farmington Hills, Mich.
Dr. Kohn prosecutes patent applications for corporations, hospitals, universities, research institutes, investors, financiers, law firms and individuals throughout the world in the fields of pharmacology, medicine, chemistry and biotechnology. He also negotiates international licensing agreements, has acted as a special master of litigation involving complex chemical technology, and manages intellectual property portfolios for corporate and university clients, locally and globally.
He is an active member of the Association of University Technology Managers, and has lectured at regional meetings and served as a presenter at other regional, national and international meetings. He has published and presented on a broad range of scientific, legal and intellectual property-related topics. He also has worked with the National Institutes of Health.
