Bruce McIntosh, M.D. ’89, F.A.C.S., is section head of General Surgery at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Mich. He is certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is a recognized expert in robotic surgery.

Dr. McIntosh completed a General Surgical residency at the Detroit Medical Center in 1994, becoming administrative chief in his final year. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Michigan.

He joined the staff at Beaumont, where he performs complex abdominal wall reconstruction, biliary surgery, advanced laparoscopic surgery and robotic surgery. He is a designated Robotic Epicenter surgeon, signifying he possesses best-in-class robotic general surgery techniques. He has trained other surgeons in robotic surgery.

Dr. McIntosh has held many leadership positions at Beaumont, including serving as director of the Gastrointestinal Oncology Multidisciplinary Clinic, member-at-large to the Medical Executive Committee, director of the Division of General Surgery, and on the executive boards of United Physicians and Beaumont Cancer Clinical Operations.

A surgeon with Premier Surgical Specialists P.C., in Rochester Hills, Mich., and chief executive officer of DocNow Urgent Care in Waterford and Rochester Hills, he maintains academic appointments with the WSUSchool of Medicine and as associate professor of Surgery for Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.

Dr. McIntosh speaks around the country about robotic surgery and complex abdominal wall reconstruction. He has presented at the Clinical Robotic Surgery Association numerous times.

Among his honors, Dr. McIntosh has been named a “Top Doc” by Hour magazine.
