Courtney Moore

Courtney Moore, M.D. ’14 received the Wayne State University School of Medicine Recent Alumni award in 2016 as a third-year Internal Medicine resident with Wayne State University /Detroit Medical Center. She was appointed junior chief resident and was recognized as the Internal Medicine Intern Resident of the Year.
As an undergraduate at Wayne State University, she received WSU’s Campus Life Legacy Award for her outstanding academic accomplishments and extensive community involvement. While a medical student, she was recognized as a Michigan’s Governor Service Award Volunteer of the Year finalist and selected as a Paul Ambrose Fellow (with the Health Professions Association for Prevention and Teaching Research Office in Washington, D.C.) for her dedication to public health improvement and medical education, particularly for establishing the Health Is Where The Heart Is organization. Health Is Where the Heart Is focuses on educating people about heart health through an easy-to-understand booklet containing easy-to-adopt practices. Her catalyst for creating the organization and program was a cardiac event that nearly claimed the life of her father. She received WSU’s Campus Life Legacy Award for her outstanding academic accomplishments and extensive community involvement.
Upon graduation from the Wayne State University School of Medicine, she received the Herbert Mendelson Enthusiasm for Medicine Endowed Scholarship in addition to the Dean’s Distinguished Leadership and Distinguished Service awards. Dr. Moore was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

She is launching a Residents as Teachers curriculum, as well as a bedside teaching initiative called “BedMed” for medical students and residents. She serves as the program director of the PRIME STEP Prep 1 program for the School of Medicine, a curriculum she developed to aid medical students preparing for the Step 1 United States Medical Licensing Examination.
