Gordon W. Nuber

Gordon W. Nuber, M.D. ’78, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon concentrating on sports-related and traumatic injuries to the knee, shoulder and elbow. He is on staff at Northwestern Orthopaedic Institute/NorthShore University HealthSystem in Chicago, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and River North Same Day Surgical Center.

Dr. Nuber completed an internship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, residency at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and a fellowship in sports medicine at the National Athletic Health Institute in Inglewood, Calif.

In addition to his responsibilities with Northwestern Orthopaedic Institute, Dr. Nuber is a professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is the team physician for the Chicago Bears, and previously served as team physician for the Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Cubs and in the Big Ten Conference, as well as a consultant to Bally’s Corp.

Dr. Nuber has received the James K. Stack Teaching Award in recognition of his academic and research activities. He has been named one of America’s leading physicians by various publications, including Woodward/White, the Castle Connelly Guide, AOL.com and Chicago Magazine.

He has written more than 100 publications on topics related to sports injuries of the shoulder, knee and elbow. He also has written reviews for the Journal of the Shoulder and Elbow.
