Gerald Timmis
Gerald Timmis, M.D., ’55, is a specialist in cardiovascular medicine at Beaumont Health System.
After receiving his medical degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine, Dr. Timmis completed residency training in Cardiovascular Disease at the school of medicine, internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Harper University Hospital, and a fellowship in the cardiology section of the WSU Department of Medicine. He served as chief of Cardiovascular Services in the U.S. Army Medical Corps at Fort Belvoir, Va.
In 1989, Dr. Timmis received the school of medicine Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Award, presented annually to one or more alumni who have made outstanding contributions to humanitarian causes, whose contributions to the health field in the broader sense are outstanding or for service to the Wayne State University School of Medicine.
He is the author of hundreds of scientific papers, abstracts and articles, and more than a dozen books and chapters. He was editor-in-chief of the Journal of Interventional Cardiology for 18 years.
