Ross Wilkins
Ross Wilkins, M.D. ’78, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with Colorado Limb Specialists in Denver, and an internationally recognized orthopedic oncologist.
He has a bachelor’s degree in molecular, cellular and developmental biology from the University of Colorado. After receiving his medical and master’s degrees from the Wayne State University School of Medicine, Dr. Wilkins completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver (1983), and a fellowship in orthopedic oncology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. (1984).
Dr. Wilkins is senior medical director for AlloSource, the world’s largest not-for-profit organ and tissue bank consortium, as well as chair of its Medical Advisory Board and namesake of its campus headquarters. He also is an orthopedic surgeon with Colorado Limb Specialists, cofounder and director of the Denver Clinic for Extremities at Risk, president and founder of the Limb Preservation Foundation and a faculty affiliate with the Flint Animal Cancer Center at Colorado State University.
He has served as assistant clinical professor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He is recognized internationally for his work in bone and soft tissue tumors, bone transplantation and limb preservation techniques.
His honors include the Edward C. Stafne Humanities Award in Medicine presented by the Mayo Clinic (1994), the American Association of Tissue Banks’ George W. Hyatt Memorial Award (1999), the Denver Business Journal Lifetime Champion in Healthcare Award (2007), and he has been named one of the top 1 percent of orthopedic surgeons by U.S. News and World report.The Ross M.
