Michael Carducci
Michael Carducci, M.D. ’88, is the AEGON Professor in Prostate Cancer Research at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore.
Dr. Carducci, a medical oncologist, is the Associate Cancer Center Director for Clinical Research within the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center and Regional Oncology Research Director for the Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center in the National Capital Region and its affiliation with Johns Hopkins Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C.
He is a translational researcher focused on the development and evaluation of new therapies for urologic cancers, incorporating pharmacodynamics, novel biomarkers and targeted
imaging into clinical trials, and coordinating a team of urologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, biostatisticians and medical oncologists.
Dr. Carducci developed palliative care programming at the Kimmel Cancer Center, and serves as co-course director of the Palliative and End of Life Care module in the medical school’s Genes-to-Society Curriculum.
He completed an internal medicine internship, residency and chief residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and Medical Oncology and research fellowships at the Johns Hopkins Oncology Center. A fellow of the American College of Physicians and American Society of Clinical Oncology, Dr. Carducci has received funding for his laboratory and clinical research from the National Cancer Institute, Department of Defense and Prostate Cancer Foundation.
He has received numerous honors, including the Michaele Christian Award and Lectureship for Oncology Drug Development at the National Cancer Institute in 2011, the Brady Urological Institute Faculty Teacher of the Year Award in 2007 and the Kimmel Cancer Center Director’s Teaching Award for Clinical Science in 2005. He is a member of the Genitourinary Steering Committee and co-chair of the Investigational Drug Steering Committee for the NCI and an associate editor for the Journal of Clinical Oncology. In 2016, he was inducted into the prestigious Miller-Coulson Academy of Clinical Excellence at Johns Hopkins.
