LaTonya Riddle-Jones

Dr. Riddle is a proud Chemical Engineering graduate of Michigan State University, the Wayne State University School of Medicine and the Detroit Medical Center/ Wayne State University School of Medicine Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency program. She practiced at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and Neighborhood Family Health Center for two years upon graduation, and served as a clinical instructor for the University of Michigan Med/Peds program while there. At Wayne State University, she is an assistant professor, vice chair of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the Department of Internal Medicine; director of Population, Patient, Physician and Professionalism courses; associate medical director of the Tri-County Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program; faculty mentor for several student organizations; and former medical director of the Corktown Health Center, a medical home for Detroit’s LGBTQ community.

Her research and academic interests include health care policy, primary care, preventative health, and HIV prevention and treatment in historically-marginalized people. Her clinical interests include primary and preventive care, and addressing the medical needs of the LGBTQ community. Dr. Riddle serves as the secretary of the Wayne County Medical Society and on various committees for the Michigan State Medical Society. She loves academic and organized medicine, and her goal is to improve the health and well-being of communities by contributing to the education of future physicians and actively addressing and correcting systemic injustices.

In 2023, Dr. Riddle received the Wayne State University School of Medicine Recent Alumni Award.
